Lake County Public Library - Highland Branch

The Highland Branch of the Lake County Public Library is offering two programs from the US Secret Service for parents and their children regarding online safety and identification information on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

First, there will be an Internet Safety session at 10:00 a.m. for students in Grades 3-5 and their parents that will discuss cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and privacy on the internet. It will be located in the Meeting Room of the Highland Branch.

Afterwards, at 11:00 a.m., members of the US Secret Service will present Operation Safe Kids in which "Livescan Child IDs" will be created. These IDs will contain a photograph, digitized and ink-less fingerprints, and other important identification information of the children. After parents receive the ID card, which can be given to authorities if the child ever goes missing, the US Secret Service deletes the information that was recorded. This is also held in the Meeting Room.

You can register for these two events at lcplin.org/events or by calling (219) 838-2394.

If you or anyone you know may be interested, please share this information and the two flyers below.

Let's make sure that the children in our community stay safe!
