Dear Parents,

School Town of Highland Elementary Schools are now using a new identification system called “Touch n Go” finger imaging.  This new system would eliminate the need for students to remember an identification number or carry I.D. cards.

The “Touch n Go” system is a sensor that stores a finger image and creates a one of a kind template for each student that cannot be duplicated.  Therefore, each student will have their own template and it will be stored in an encrypted file.  When the student later touches the finger scanner, a new template is again created and compared to the stored template.  As the templates match, the scan is complete.  This is not a finger print but an encoded mathematical representation of finger print features.

Furthermore, this new method will provide a more efficient way to process students through the lunch line, and more importantly they will have extra time to spend eating their lunch. If a parent/guardian is not comfortable with the “Touch n Go” finger pad system, the option for a student to use a key pad will be available.

If you DO NOT wish your child to be part of the “Touch n Go” finger pad system, please complete this form and return to your cafeteria manager.

If you have any questions regarding the changes outlined in this letter, please contact Sherry Norris @ 219-922-5642 ext 7240.

Sincerely,
