The School Town of Highland provides English language instruction for our English Learner (EL) students K-12. Our English as Second Language (ESL) program has been successful in helping our EL population transition from their native language to English as indicated by our success in achieving our Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs). 
 
AMAOs are targets based on both LAS Links and ISTEP+ that our English Learners (ELs) must meet.  Since the implementation of AMAOs in 2006-2007, The School Town of Highland has surpassed the targets set by the state. If you want to learn more about AMAOs, why not watch the DOE's webex,
